Positive Affirmations: The tool you need to get through the day
I am a big believer in the power and importance of self-care, and am constantly adapting and learning new ways to take care of myself. One of the things I’ve discovered recently is positive affirmations – something that I actually do but didn’t realise it was a useful tool.
Positve affirmations, or self-talk, consist of phrases that can help calm you down, or keep you going, when you are in the midst of low mood or anxiety. They are simple things you can tell yourself to remind you that you can get through this.
Once I’d learned what they were, I reached out to my lovely twitter followers for their favourites, and I thought it would be great to share them with you all!

Positive Self-Talk to Get You Through the Bad Days
Personal Favourites
Firstly, for my favourites. These are the ones I use on a daily basis to help me get through the day:
- You CAN do this
- You have value
- This too will pass – nothing is permanent
Ideas from others
Now onto my lovely followers, these are their suggestions:
- I am capable
- This is okay
- One day at a time
- I have come this far – I can do this
- You are worthy of and deserve recovery
- You are worthy
- You are a good person
- You are not weak and a failure
- You are strong!
- You can’t help how people are around you, but you can change how you react to it.
- You are safe and in control now
- You are worth it
- I release my need to impress others. I know that I have nothing to prove. I choose to accept myself just the way I am!
- And a lovely quote by Sophia Bush herself ‘ You’re allowed to be a masterpiece and a work in progress simultaneously’

If any of these resonate with you, or you have any of your own, I suggest you write them down as a note in your phone so you can read them to yourself when you’re having a bad day. Saying them outloud gives them more power, and if you’re comfortable then saying them to yourself in a mirror is even more so.
I also recommend putting them on post-its and placing them around your house where you will see them.
If you don’t know where to start with creating your own there are some greate resources out there. I personally use these awesome positive affirmation cards each day to keep me going!

Please feel free to share your favourite self-affirmations in the comments, I would love to hear them!

I start every day by telling myself “I will have a good day today.” I really think it helps.

That’s great! I’ll have to give that one a go. Might put it as a reminder in my phone to pop up when I wake up!

Great suggestions for positive affirmations and I especially love the quote from Sophia Bush! I’ve been trying to use a new affirmation to help me become more mindful and stop stressing so much about the future: “In this moment, everything is perfect.” I can’t believe what a difference it has made in my day!
Thanks for a great post!
