My One True Love: FRIENDS
Today is Valentines Day, which my other half and I don’t really celebrate. So I thought I would share the other love in my life, on this the day of love. That love is FRIENDS. What is FRIENDS? For those who don’t know (have you been living under a rock?) FRIENDS is an American sitcom set in Manhattan, about a group of 6 friends of varying backgrounds and their lives as they go from 20-somethings to 30-somethings. It stopped filming in 2004, so its now been nearly 15 years since the last episode aired. But to me, it has aged well and is still the best thing on TV. It’s…

27 things to do before I’m 27
Yesterday was my 26th birthday, in case you already didn’t know! So, to give myself something to work towards and look forward to next year I thought I would challenge myself to do these 27 things before I turn 27 this time next year! Here it goes: 1. Read More: I love to read, but I never really give myself enough time to read so I just end up with loads of half finished books. This year I want to at least finish the books currently in my possession so I can buy some more! 2. Change my gym membership: I currently pay £30 a month to use our local leisure…

Big Mouth: A Masterpiece
I don’t know how many of you have seen, or even heard of, Netflix’s show Big Mouth, but I really want to talk about it. Please note this post does contain some episode spoilers, but no big story lines. Netflix’s Big Mouth Big Mouth is one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen, yet it is so good and tackles such important issues – it’s truly a masterpiece. Now I can’t speak for the male side of puberty, but for me it depicts the changes to the female body amazingly accurately. From getting your first period on a school trip in white shorts, to the confusing feelings…

My Analogy for Depression
It can be hard to fully get across what depression really feels like to live with – it’s hard enough that you have to live through it without dealing with being misunderstood. Having suffered with depression from a very young age, along with anxiety, I have managed to come up with my own ways of describing it to others in the hopes of being better understood. No one can see my depression, but it is there every day, even on the days I am smiling. No time to read now? Pin it for later! I originally posted this in 2013 on my personal blog, Il Se Interiore, and decided to…

CBT: My secret to improving low mood.
CBT, which stands for Cognitive Behacvioural Therapy, is a very common and popular treatment for both depression and anxiety, and CFS/ME. I originally wrote this post when I had just started CBT, and this time it really did help. Read on to find out more about my experience. I’ve suffered with depression and anxiety all my life (or at least as long as I can remember), and it’s really made life hard. I struggle to get through even the simplest of days without being overwhelmed with worry and it has taken over pretty much every area of my life. I have recently started CBT in an effort to tackle my…

January Round-Up
January has been such a crazy month, I barely know where to begin! Let’s start with the not so great bits. It has been a roller coaster month for me. I struggled to get myself back on track at work following the Christmas break and started to feel like I was drowning. My to-do list built up every day, but I didn’t have enough time to get everything done. My exhaustion hit a new peak and my body just gave up. Unfortunately this has resulted in me being signed off work, which I have been for the last three weeks. In all honesty I had no idea what I was…

5 Ways I Personally Manage My Depression
There are so many news articles, health websites and blog posts out there offering advice for those suffering with depression, and that’s great! In my experience though, I often find this advice to be generic and lacking in personal experience. So, as a change, I thought I’d share with you the things I do personally to manage my depression on a daily basis. I hope that these are helpful for you in your journey to better mental health, but it should be noted that it’s okay not to be okay. No time to read now? Pin it for later! 5 ways I personally manage my depression. Go outside. I find…

Down but not out – chronic illness setbacks
When you have a set back with an illness, it’s so easy to feel like it’s the end of the world, like you’ve failed, like there’s no point in you trying. But it’s very important to try not to feel that way. I know, easier said than done right? Well, this last week hasn’t been amazing for me. I was very unwell at the beginning of last week and needed some time off work – yes I’ve already had a set back for my new years goal. A couple of days turned into a week. A week turned into me dragging myself to the doctors to be signed off for…

Old Before My Time
I’m 27, and while to me that does feel old I do know that I have my whole life ahead of me and I am still young. I’m still in my twenties. I may not be 18 or 21 anymore, but your twenties are about being young and figuring out what you want to do. It’s about having fun. Unfortunately being 27 doesn’t really stop the symptoms of CFS/ME. I definitely don’t feel 27 most of the time. No time to read now? Pin it for later! Life when you feel old before your time. I don’t feel 27 I don’t feel 27 when I have to go to bed…
