YWA Breath: What I learned doing 30 days of yoga
Before I get into this I am fully aware the yoga is one of those things that is unhelpfully recommended for people with both chronic illnesses and mental illness. I also know many people are sick of it. I am not here to tell you that yoga will solve all your problems or make your life easier, I am just here to tell you my experience of YWA Breath. So no pressure here. You know your own body better than me. But, for me personally, yoga has been a great help – a way for me to get the excercise my body needs without putting me completely out of action…

Tips to help you sleep better
If you’re a spoonie like me (or even if you’re not) sleep is very important. It’s the time of the day your body recovers and rests ready for the next day. So when you struggle with sleep, it’s good to know the things you can do to sleep better. Due to ME/CFS, I spend my whole day feeling exhausted, achey and basically like I need a week of sleep. It’s very sacred to me, and bedtime has quickly become my favourite time of the day, because it’s the time I truly get relief from my symptoms. But being tired all the time doesn’t mean that sleep comes easily. In fact,…

5 things I’ve learned from yoga
Living with ME/CFS comes with a long list of trials and challenges to deal with on a daily basis. Among them is the inability to exercise normally. Unfortunately, along with the sheer exhaustion it brings, another symptom is post exertional malaise. Put simply, the worsening of symptoms due to physical activity. For me, I find it quite difficult to predict, but I know one thing that causes it every time – exercise. My body just shuts down, even moving takes too much…

Lockdown Silver Linings
These are pretty unusual and stressful times we are living in right now. Tensions and emotions are running high, and no one really knows what to do or how to feel. Looking around the world right there is so much going on, so much to be worried or scared about, so much negativity. But there are also a lot of positives. Whether it be the clap for carers movement, the chance to try new things or simply spending time with family, I’m sure every one of us has at least one thing to be grateful for during this time. I’m a big fan of this ‘Lockdown Silver Linings’ tag. It’s…

My Simple 5 Step Evening Self-Care Routine
You will have heard me time and time again talk about how important self care is for your wellbeing. And I will never stop. But the most important part of it for me is my evening self-care routine. Self-care is essential, and I believe we should all be doing everything we can to look after ourselves. No matter how big or small, even the slightest bit of self-care can make all the difference. For someone who doesn’t have a lot of energy, I really cherish any self-care activities that are relatively easy and simple. There are lots of options out there, and I’m sure I will list them all at…

My Journey to Fitness: Part 4
It’s been about a month since my last update to you, apologies for the delay. If you’ve not kept up with my fitness journey so far feel free to catch up here. After spending the first month or so writing bi-weekly health and fitness updates I kind of didn’t see the point in updating you so often, especially as nothing was changing. I really didn’t want you all to be reading the same post over an over again, that would just be insanely boring. In addition, I’ve also been feeling super low about my body because nothing has really changed. My weight keeps going up, and I am just so…
